This month, Mézigue releases “Gagra”, a track with electro dance house vibes. Driven by a robotic, vocoded voice reminiscent of new funk, it tells the story of Loba, a friend he met during a trip to Tbilisi.“Loba wanted to fight, but instead he just spread love around him. "Îles Nvlles", the 5th single from Mézigue’s upcoming album set for release this November, tells the wild legend of the Leviathan and a mysterious island, over a production blending house, dub, and breaks — the kind of fusion Mézigue excels at.
"Formerly known as the Leviathan, the jewel-encrusted tiger of the Sentinel tribe lives only on this new island, which is apparently the oldest. It’s the only species of tiger to have ever lived in harmony with humans. A little-known legend tells of a robot that arrived on the island in ancient times. A tiger named Ispa, chief of the tigers, fought the robot and was soundly defeated. The robot became their new leader and, using his newfound authority over the tigers, made them leap into the ocean where they turned into Leviathans. The robot left, and the unprotected inhabitants have since had to fend for themselves. All of this is revealed in the track Îles Nvlles by Mézigue."
Mézigue will be touring this summer in Paris (at Virage, Kilomètre25, and Cabaret Sauvage), in Lisbon, and in Belgium, where he’ll close out the electro mainstage at Dour Festival, performing alongside his longtime partner Mad Rey.
